These benefits are extremely important to allow you to receive the necessary treatment and services to reach optimal recovery. Medical and Rehabilitation benefits are intended to cover reasonable and necessary expenses incurred by the injured person as a result of the motor vehicle accident for:

• Medical, surgical, dental, optometric, hospital, nursing, ambulance, audiometric and speech-language pathology services
• Chiropractic, psychological, occupational therapy and physiotherapy services
• Medication
• Prescription eyewear
• Dentures and other dental devices
• Hearing aids, wheelchairs or other mobility devices, prostheses, orthotics and other assistive devices
• Transportation for the insured person to and from treatment sessions, including transportation for an aide or attendant
• Life skills training
• Family counselling
• Social rehabilitation counselling
• Financial counselling
• Employment counselling
• Vocational assessments
• Vocational or academic training
• Workplace modifications and workplace devices
• Home modifications and home devices
• Vehicle modifications

Attendant care benefits will cover your expenses incurred by you or on your behalf as a result of the accident for services provided by an aide or attendant or by a long-term care facility or family member – you must demonstrate that the expense was incurred and your family member suffered an economic loss in providing care to you. Your lawyer can help you with this. The amount of attendant care will be determined by an occupational therapist or nurse who you have the right to choose.

If you are catastrophically impaired, you are entitled to $1,000,000.00 in medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits over your lifetime. If you are non-catastrophically impaired, your medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits are limited to $65,000.00 and only available up to 5 years after the accident. If you injury falls under the Minor Injury Guidelines, you are limited to $3,500 for medical and rehabilitation benefits.
